I've always struggled to fully understand what my "process" was for writing screenplays. Do I handwrite my ideas? Tried that and it took too long. Do I type them out on my laptop? Too easily distracted. Do I do index cards? Where did I put those index cards?

Over time, and after many failed tries to get my writing in a place where I could call it my process, I found something, a mental trick that works for me and gets me in the right mindset for writing.

A year ago when I was doing a feature length of "The Vanishing" I came across a sci-fi atmospheric youtube video called [RED GIANT](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u79jFVKHkNU&t=8s&ref=thecreativedad.club). It's of a giant red planet and it has incredibly sci-fi music that I loved. Now whenever I work on anything related to "[The Vanishing](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SBwc8-erxvM&t=3s&ref=thecreativedad.club)" I put on this video and write. It's a mental trigger that I am in writing mode.

I don't think you need to really have a dialed in process, and it'll always be changing, but maybe a writing trigger is the thing that will do it for you. A lit candle, a space that you always write in, or like me one song that always is on repeat. Give it a try.
